It's pretty cool to make up a "Brand Called You" and those are the exact things that employeer's or graduate school's are looking for. They are looking for that creative, new individual to bring new innovative ideas to their company or school.
Everyone knows when you hear "Ba da bop bah bah...I'm lovin' it" it's Mcdonalds. Going along with a "Brand Called You" what would your unforgetable catchy tagline be for a "Brand Called You". Essentially that's what employers are looking for because after interviewing multiple applicants, the one they choose have something that paticulary stood out to them.
Also list any other creative ideas you have to make yourself stand out.
The environment can not speak for itself, so I am obligated to speak for the Green and help find new ways to keep it clean!
ReplyDeleteI think researching a company and their projects could help you to ask questions. these could be questions that shows the little experience does not overcome the knowledge and enthusiasm you have. questions pertaining to the current work of the company shows you are work ready and you could add some insight.
What a creative tagline! I also really like how you mentioned the questions. Asking questions is such a great way to let future employers know that you are serious about this job and company.
DeleteI feel like having a cool symbol or something as your signature or something to that effect. Something that makes you stand out after the interview. Maybe a great quote that you always say. This way, the school or employer will always remember you by that. You remember people more when they do something that stands out to you. People can be reached in many ways. So, saying or doing something that "speaks" to them is important. This way your impact will be lasting.
ReplyDeleteYes, having a lasting impact on an interviewer puts you in a better position to getting the job you wanted or into the school of your choice. Bringing out your best assets during an interview and relating them to the job title can help make a bigger impression on the interviewer.
DeleteStating something in your interview that makes you stand out is definitely useful in interviewers remembering who you are. Making up a "brand called you" may be a little too much in my opinion. You need to sell yourself, but do it without being too cheesy. Simply stating why you would be a good contribution to whatever your applying for and integrating that reason into aspects of your life could be sufficient.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I think I would be put off if I was conducting an interview and someone came in with an obvious tagline. It would almost make the perspective client seem immature and and unserious.
DeleteI agree using a tagline in an interview is alittle much but using a tagline as a basis for what you would talk about to represent yourself in a positive light not actually stating a tagline. just using it as an exercise to put your qualities in an appealing way.
DeleteYes! Being cheesy will not get you the job. They will be able to smell the BS from a mile away. Being yourself is always the best option but you should always leave them wanting more from you. Keep them interested without being over the top.
DeleteHaving a "Brand Called "You is a good idea in that it prepares you to put your best foot forward, however, I don't think in the profession I want to go into a "catch phrase" type thing will be very appropriate. If i were going into advertising or something of that sort, maybe, or forming my own company, those sort of professions would be more appropriate for a catch phrase/tagline, but going into the medical field I don't see a tagline being much use. I do think presenting myself in a positive light is important obviously, I just don't think a tagline is the best way to do that, for me at least.
ReplyDeleteI would have to disagree I think representing yourself with compassion for others and being a patient advocate is something to advertise about yourself.
DeleteYou can have a catch phrase for any job but the way construct that phrase is what is important. Yes, you should ahve a crazy weird catch phrase fro something like advertising or marketing because that is how other people are going to recognize your work and remember you. But for other jobs, maybe making a simple catch phrase might give you the boost you need to get that dream job. It will help you stand out from other applicants.
DeleteI agree with you about you should have a crazy or weird catch phrase because people will remember and recognize your work because I had a job interview and I said a joke and he automatically laughed and the next week I got the job so it is very important.
DeleteI would have to say that my tagline would probably be “life is about perception, not reality.” This fits into my future career in psychology. Generally, when a client seeks the assistance of a psychology professional, they are telling a story from THEIR perspective (perception). However, I would be sure to integrate this tagline while talking about my theoretical orientations in psychology, and not make it be so blatantly obvious that I’m trying to create a tagline. Other than that, I would say that I hope my passion and eagerness would be reason enough to stand out.
ReplyDeletethat is definitely applicable to your career and it's creative without being over the top!
DeleteI like your approach and completely agree with you. I think that a tag line is a good idea and incorporating it into your interview without making it obvious is what I am going to try and do in my grad school interviews.
DeleteThat is a really good tagline. I think that could be incorporated into many carrers and life in general with critical thinking.
DeleteIt is funny that you say that. I have always said that perception is reality. It is not who you are but who people think you are. You can always know who you are on the inside and people say that, that is all that matters but it is not true at all. Everything you do in life is going to be judged by other people. The key is to remain as much as yourself as possible but making sure that you are helping curve the right perceptions for others to see you.
DeleteI would like to have a cool symbol or quote that represents me if I went in for a job interview because if you give them a catchy phrase or even symbol they will remember you more than likely. Most people that I meet I remember them by things they say or even things they write down. Having a brand is a good idea but I think the most important thing is to be yourself when interviewing for a job. If I had to choose a tag line it would be " the lineman that cracks people up" because I play football and I like to make people laugh.
